Poetry
How long is long-suffering,
I feared insanity.
Is it deeper than need,
And need's agony?
Is it broader than doubt,
I cried in dismay?
Is it short on expectation,
Lost along the way?
Is it somewhere in the middle,
Of that which I project?
Caught up in the grip,
Of myself that I reject?
How long is long-suffering,
As long as life is life.
How deep it takes the need,
Is where it ends the strife.
It's broader than doubt,
To open life's door,
And long on expectation
That always wants for more.
It's somewhere in the middle,
Of waiting and arriving,
Caught up in His grip,
Of patiently abiding.
