Walking broken paths through relative temptation
Looking to the bottle for my own salvation
Never realizing it was always in me
Always compromising what it was I could be

Never seemed to finish what ambition started
Novelty romance just left me brokenhearted
Always took my bow before the final curtain
Never had the answer but was always certain

I never felt the need to strike up conversation
Or was it just a matter of interpretation
Did I hit the mark or did I miss completely
Never thought my disposition could defeat me

Living in the past or trying hard to get there
Always moving fast but never going nowhere
Giving all I should but never really trying
If I said I could you know I’d still be lying

But now I have begun to see it all so clearly
And listen to the words you whisper so sincerely
Now in you I have the strength to finally get through
And each day I find it harder to forget you

No longer is my life in league with trepidation
Thank you for your promise and my transformation
You are the unmitigated peace that I know
And I know that you will never cease to let go, so never let go
