Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools. Ecclesiastes 7:9

Oh how true this verse is. Thankfully I am not quick to anger. God has given me a lot of patience over the years. Those times when I do hit that boiling point and am provoked to anger, when it is all said and done, I feel foolish for allowing myself to get to that point. A lot of needless things are said when we are angry. Things that can scar not only those around you but also yourself as you beat yourself up for allowing foolishness to fall from your tongue. Next time you feel yourself getting to that boiling point, stop, take a breath and pray before you speak. Often times we say the most foolish things when we are angry and if we could just stop in the heat of the moment and pray, most likely we will be able to stop before the point of no return. God will put the right words into your heart and dissipate the anger allowing you to speak the correct words or perhaps silence you all together. Often times the best way to extinguish anger is to leave certain things unsaid.

Prayer: Lord give me the patience I need to keep myself from getting to my boiling point; help me to leave unnecessary tings left unsaid. Lord anger does belong in the bosoms of fools; help me to stay out of the foolishness. Lord help me to recognize my anger and to realize when it is time for me to stop and pray before I proceed with any actions. In your precious son’s name. Amen
