Women
Don't allow him to make your house his home,
While his heart is left free to roam
Around to see if he can find
Another to give his love and time.
A commitment is just what he owes you
With a ring, a wedding and a major "I do".
To make himself at home in your life,
He needs to be ready to make you his wife.
Promises of love and material things,
Or the assurance of what his presence brings
Doesn't pay the rent, mortgage or any of the bills,
And, doesn't do much for financing meals.
Money is not everything, but a commitment is much,
When he wants to feel, squeeze and touch
All over property in which he has not financed,
But desires and seeks to have all the romance.
Until he is ready to make you his wife,
Limit the space he takes up in your life.
So, close the doors for playing house
Until he shows he's a man and not a mouse
By taking your hand until death do you part,
And gives your love a home in his heart.

This poem is about a woman being inter-dependent rather than dependent on someone else for her happiness.
To me, it reads as a reminder to work on being an interdependant womany--not a dependant one. Words of wisdom, you have penned.
