“A Mother’s Love” Written by: Rev. Terry D. Butters
Unpublished Copyright 2008
Some of us rarely get home, we live too far away.
And if we get in the area, we can’t take time to stay.
But when we can go to the door, and step on the living room rug.
Mom is right there with open arms, to give a great big hug.
The hug triggers memories, of days so very long ago.
When the arms of our mother, around about us would go.
But the memories are not ours, we were very young at the time.
But mother, she remembers, when into her lap we’d climb.
We don’t recall hands on our cheeks, or pushing back our hair.
The memories of holding hands simply are not there.
But she remembers touching our cheek and the hair over our eye,
Her reading to us our favorite book generates from her a sigh.
Then remembering her bedside prayers brings to her face a smile.
The first words we hear her say, “Can you stay with me a while?”
God forgive me when we respond, “This is just a short hello.”
And we don’t hear her whisper, “I miss you.” As through the door we go.

If your mother is still alive , then make the time guys. Mine is gone and now i have children and grandchildren and they will never know the love untill it happens to them. Our memories don't change, they just get older. Very heartwarming and kind of sad.
OH, Terry, so true. As the seasons come and go, so it is with our children...we raise them, we teach them, we train them to stand on their own two feet as adults and we as parents have to let them go for their season in life. I only have 2 sons, the younger shares our home with me. He works nights, I work days, so we don't really see each other very much, but knowing he is there helps a lot. My older son lives 2 hrs away and is not able to visit much because of his work and gas prices. Thank God for e-mail and the telephone. We all have our own personal seasons to go through and as the leaves fall in autumn, so we must let go and let GOD....
