Women
We have had these TV ads for decades; the ones that tell you to invest in their products so that your hair can be lustrous, your skin beautiful, and your body smooth, because... ‘You’re worth it!’ But when you go on to use those products, you feel tricked. There’s no shine when the wind blows through your hair, the sky rarely makes your eyes stand out, and your skin is anything but flawless… Does this mean that you’re really not worth all that beauty you see on TV?
The fact is, the beauty portrayed in these adverts is not the beauty that really counts. It may look and make you feel good about your appearance, but it’s not enough to make you feel worthy. For this reason, so many beautiful, famous women are depressed, have addictions and pretend to be happy.
I think we can safely say that grace, discretion, wisdom, and character make up a woman’s beauty. You can only feel worthy when your beauty includes all of these qualities. It’s not to say that you should despise your looks, but you must understand that looks are an outward consequence of what’s inside.
If you only have good looks, you may even look worthy but you won’t feel it. But, when you feel worthy, you want to look worthy too. If you’re graceful, discreet, wise, and truthful, you will show all of that through the way you look, smile, walk, talk, and live. It’s the perfect combination to beauty.
When a woman is truly beautiful, she’s worth all that is good and right. She does not settle for just any relationship, she chooses what’s best for her. She doesn’t need to feel accepted, she accepts herself as she is, and because of that, she attracts good friends.
When Ruth’s husband died, she decided to leave her family and follow Naomi, her mother-in-law to a strange land. She did this purely because of her faith. She had acquired so much beauty through the new faith she gained from Naomi that if she stayed behind, she would have returned to her family’s customs and culture—which only focused on the external.
When Ruth arrived at that strange land, she immediately got to work. In those days, if you had no husband, you’d practically starve to death if you didn’t find a way to feed yourself. She’d go out early in the morning and return late with enough food for herself and Naomi.
It’s interesting to note that her future husband, who was the owner of the land she worked on, immediately noticed her. Imagine how a woman working in the fields must have looked. Flawless? And yet, he noticed her. Read about her in the book of Ruth in the Bible – it’s worth the read!
Ruth had all the right qualities. Ruth was truly beautiful.
So you see, L’Oreal, magazines, and beauty tips online cannot do the trick. You’ll only be worth it when you’re truly beautiful from inside out. So instead of wasting your money on worthless products, invest on your faith, read the Bible, pray, and go to church. See how a relationship with God can make you into the most beautiful woman you can be.
