WAITING

"I waited for the Lord's help; then he listened to me and heard my cry. He pulled me out of a dangerous pit, out of the deadly quicksand. He set me safely on a rock and made me secure. He taught me to sing a new song; a song of praise to our God." Psalm 40:1-3

Solitude is waiting,
waiting and listening to God.
Solitude, rare and precious moments in time
when life is hushed and still,
and I can hear God's voice speak to me.
Without solitude, I become
fragmented and disoriented
like being on a merry-go-round too long,
around and around I go,
going nowhere,
stepping off dizzy and unstable.

Solitude is waiting,
waiting and listening to God.
When worries, fears, and doubts
threaten to suck me into
their whirling vortex,
God pulls me out
to sit beside him in solitude,
to catch my breath,
calm my heart,
restore my soul to peace.

Solitude is waiting,
waiting and listening to God.
God speaks and music fills my soul;
my heart begins to sing;
I feel creative and alive
as I sit in solitude, waiting,
waiting and listening to God.
