Poetry
TODAY MY SOUL SHIVERS FOR ALL HUMANITY--
For the well-fed bodies caught in the empty, aching mansions,
And the hungry ones packed in sordid, soiled tenement rows.
THE COLD WIND BLOWS AND PITY FLOWS--
For the man who is loved too well, hemmed in and possessed,
And the man who looks in vain to find just one that cares.
For the rich man who can buy a good meal, but can't digest it,
And the poor man whose good health makes hunger the harder to bear.
For the old man floundering in regret that he won't live long enough to use what he learned,
And the young man who, if he had lived longer would know what to do with his youth.
For children who are loved too much and children that are loved too little,
For tthose that are over-fed and starved all at once.
For great men who are off the track, and little men who are on the track,
For the wild-eyed rebels and the lukewarm uninvolved--and all those caught in between.
For the lost opportunities and the dashed hopes--
For the sad-eyed stranger lost in the crowd, and the sad-eyed loved one lost at home.
For the greed and the lust and the ambition that turn finally to ashes,
For the frustrated despairing young and the joyless hopeless old.
For those who look and don't see, or see and don't feel--
For those who look and see and ache helplessly at what they see.
For those who hate overmuch and love too little,
For those who live on dim memories or uncertain futures, or just for today.
For all are destined for disappointment--
Out of the throbbing, squirming masses of men there comes a faint echo
That every man must at last walk alone.
O GOD, MY SOUL SHIVERS FOR US ALL.
Alone! Even the word sounds so sad and lost. And yet the sinless Son of God, the Lord Jesus, walked the last mile of the way alone.
"He could have called ten thousand angels
to destroy the world and set Him free,
But He died alone for you and me." From the song
Ten Thousand Angels
This sad old world holds little promise for us, temporary at best, hopeless at worst. Run to Jesus, troubled saint and wandering sinner! He is the Rock of our salvation, our only hope.

You know I am not a fan of poetry but this is just fine. I hope the others who read this notice the point of contrast you brought out between those who have much and do nothing and the sad but too frequent situation of those who would but lack the means.
