In fact, it gives me
bad heartburn."

Yeah.......but, that doesn't
seem to stop it any,
DOES it?"

[SLOW NOD.]

"I mean, You say stuff,
Lord, but it doesn't seem
to CHANGE anything!"

[FROWN!]
"It doesn't?"

"Not that I'VE seen!
And, I've been around
Your world 52 years, now!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"See what I MEAN?
See what kinda' WIFE,
I am? All I do is
ARGUE all the TIME!"

[PATIENT NOD.]
"Yes, child.
[SMILE!]

How do I know Y'ur
not gonna leave me,
TOO?"

[LONG PAUSE.]
"I am the Lord,
child."

"Yeah, well;
I grew up thinkin'
You were ONE Thing.
Then, the CHRISTIANS
tell me Y'ur Something ELSE!
How do I KNOW Who You
ARE?"

[PATIENTLY WAITING.]
"Read My Word, child."

(Sigh.)
"Yeah.
(Shrug.)
But, trust me: I've never
been real good in the relationship
department. Plus, I've been
told I make a lousy wife."

[GENTLE VOICE.]
"Who AM I, child?"

"I dunno;
You're up in the sky, somewhere."

"No, little one.
I'm right Here."

"So.......what ARE You,
to me, ANYWAY?"

"Everything, child.
Everything."
