Encouragement

As I was sitting and watching my daughter do her homework, I sat in amazement at the beautiful, lively person that God has created and blessed me with. She is so spunky and full of life. Not afraid to live out her faith and does not care what others think of her. As an eleven year old, she has such a love of God and of others that is contagious.

Then it dawned on me, I am sitting here, the mother of an almost teenager. It seems like yesterday that I had learned I was expecting and asking myself "How could I be a mom when I am still depending on my mom myself?" I did not know my savior at the time of her birth and I certainly did not know how being a mom would forever change my life. The endless worry, the sleepless nights, the late night fevers. The snuggling, the playing, and the unconditional love for her. How many times would I pray in this lifetime for God to bless her abundantly? Will she continue to live out her faith? What will she be when she grows up? God knows the answers to all of these questions.

What is so interesting is how God has taught me a very important truth through the life of my daughter. He has a plan for each and every one of us. He has a plan for my daughter, which none of my worrying could ever help along because he has it already planned out. He has already used her in ways that will change the world forever. I do not think she realizes the impact of those changes. For example, when she was born, neither her dad nor I had attended church let alone experience a relationship with God. Yet, the name he chose for her through us means "Listener of God." While raising her, we realized that our family was missing something significant. This missing part of our family was Christ at the center. Our lives were changed forever. At the age of six, our daughter accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She then began to witness to us and eventually we did as well. Now, all three of us have a strong relationship with Christ and each other. God used her, even as a small child, to impact others for His Kingdom.

We were all created as beautiful creations by a God who cares deeply and loves unconditionally. It does not matter how old or young we are, the family we come from, the experiences we have had, the status of our career or what material possessions we have. What really matters is that we realize God has created every one of us in His image to spread his love throughout the world.

For you created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother's womb.
