How can we handle grief?Grief in todays world is not usual.One only has to look on the evening news to see that sorrow surrounds us and seems to be increasing.How can we handle such massive waves of death?Death surrounds as all and it is important not to harden your heart to it or to try and seem that it does not bother you.In this I would like to talk about grief and how we can handle it,both those who are christians and those who are not.

Todays world seems to be filled with sorrow from the massive quakes in China,the cyclone in Burma,the tornadoes that have been sweeping across the US,wars where troops are dying daily,etc..Families are being robbed of their loved ones daily.It is hard for us as humans to take in all that we see on a regular basis.As we look back on the last decade really,we have witnessed so much death.From the time of 9/11 to now literally we have witnessed close to or over a million people died.Sometimes,if we are not careful we can allow our hearts to become cold and hard to the reality that wide spread deaths are now a natural part of our daily lives,it is reality that we are living in,not some bad dream that we wish we could wake up from.

How does God view grief?Does He care?Does He see the tears that fall while I try and fall to sleep at night?The answer to all these questions is YES,He does see each and every tear.He sees everything that occurs on this earth,in your pain He is nearest to you.He sees the tears that we cry{2 Kings 20:5}.He sees our pain and He is always there to comfort us and console us.For example I heard about this one individual who lost his wife I believe it was only a year or so after their marriage,a drunk drive rammed into their home and killed his wife as she slept,he escaped with some injuries.He remembers going to the cemetery and literally throwing his Bible and crying out to God and saying,along these lines,"Don't you care,"or,"How could you allow this to happen."He laid on top of his wifes grave and he said at that very moment,"It was as if the Lord wrapped His arms around me,and I could literally feel that I was being hugged."In a way God uses grief,not that He loves to see us without the love of our lives or see us crying over the passing of a child.God uses grief to open our eyes to our need for Him,plus He can comfort a person in a way that others can't.He never intended for us to live this way,that was not His plan.

God created this world as a utopia to be a place were mankind and God could fellowship with one another.However,when sin entered this world God knew full well that sin was coming,because it existed before creation.You may be wondering,"Why would God still create this world if He knew all of what was to occur.Would that not be a waste of time."In God eyes nothing is a waste.Since God the Father & Jesus are one,plus the Hold Spirit.Jesus gave His life and chose us,"...Before the foundation of the world..."{Eph.1:4-5}In God's eyes what occurred was no surprise to Him.He knew full well that we would sin,if I was there it would have occurred.We are all weak and tempted to sin,it is our very nature.

Grief was in the heart of God,so it is not an uncommon thing.It is natural.Tears are cleansing and healing.The Scriptures tell us that Jesus wept at Lazarus' grave.That tells me that Jesus does weep when His children died,but He also see us as "...Precious in His sight.."at death,that is His saints.Those who have placed their faith and trust in Him.He mourns the death of the wicked,He does not like seeing people go to hell,because He did not create hell for us,but for the devil and his minions."Why,you may ask would God weep over His own,"that too is a great question,the answer is simple.When we place our faith and trust in Him,we become light and salt to this earth.Light pushes away darkness and salt is purifying.That is why when saints died-{not saints as how the world views them}-one less light is dimmed.

God is the God of all comfort.If you are facing grief to some degree today run to Him,most run away from Him.He is strength and He is comfort.I have felt His comfort many a time.
