Walk Through the Furnace with Me

Flames growing higher, more than I can bear
A heat so strong it steals all of my air
I feel tightly bound hand and foot in this life
Struggling through tribulation and strife

The furnace is burning hot, ready to consume
I am on the edge creeping towards doom
Into the fire as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
Thrown for they refused to bow low

I will not fret or feel threatened by this world
Even if into the furnace I am hurled
I know that I will not be harmed or walk alone
For Jesus Christ calls me His own

I cry out in faith to the only One who saves
Freed when situations seems grave
In Christ alone I place my trust and will see
He walks through the furnace with me


Family in Christ,

Haven’t we all walked through the furnace at least once in our lives? All of us can list the different furnaces we have walked through unscathed accompanied by Jesus all the way. I love reading the Daniel, the history of tremendous faith. I take great joy in the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego who refused to bow to idols even in the face of the threat of being thrown into the furnace. Not only did they not bow, but had such faith that they said the Lord will save them or if not will call them home. It did not matter. They put into action the words that Paul wrote thousands of years later when he said “To die is gain and to live is Jesus Christ.” Regardless of our furnace, Christ will walk through the fire with us. There's also a refining fire that is unlike anything on this earth. It burns without destroying the person.There is a consuming fire and it is dreadful for those who end up there. Jesus baptizes with the Holy Ghost and fire!!! GLORY!!! Thank you Christian. Anita

Very good, Christian. And it reminds me of the "Christian" of "Pilgrim's Progress" that I have often mentioned to you. I am reading it again (found on-line through Christian's Unite site). This morning it was about the same topic as your poem. Christian was walking through the fire, but because of his faith in his Savior, he was not burned....Have a continuous wonderful life, serving the Lord as you do....Helen

I can definatly relate to this one! I pray if ever I am in a life and death situation and have the choice to deny the Lord or please the Lord, I pray that I will choose to please rather than to deny. I would rather choose death and be with the Lord than to deny Him and spend the rest of my life regretting the choice that I had made. How did Peter live with himself?? Praise The Lord that he is a father of forgiveness and mercy!! Danette
