Don't Worry

“So don’t worry at all about having enough food and clothing. Why be like the heathen? For they take pride in all these things and are deeply concerned about them. But your heavenly Father already knows perfectly well that you need them, and he will give them to you if you give him first place in your life and live as he wants you to” (Matthew 6:31-33) The Living Bible

We might be tempted to argue that this scripture doesn’t work until we read down to the part that states we must give HIM first place in our lives. God requires US to do something because He wants us to be in partnership with Him. He expects that for us to live, as He wants us to, a relationship with Him is absolutely necessary to discern how exactly to do that.

Building up our relationship with God takes time; yet, if we spend time daily in His Word (and believe it), join Him in prayer and seek Him for answers to life’s problems, before long we have grown to the point where our spiritual and physical life doesn’t seem so hard. The secret is that He is with us in the problems.

As it becomes apparent that we aren’t worrying any longer, we will realize that the habits developed by exercising our spiritual muscles taught us to naturally cast our care on God because we’ve been in fellowship with Him daily. By creating a new life of non-worry, the stress and stain we use to live under will be gone and solutions can be more readily found for life’s difficulties.

PRAYER
Father, help us to believe your Word. It seems too good to be true but when we put your Word into actual practice everything comes out right. Let us not make your Word so hard that we can’t apply it to our lives. Amen.
