Woe
to the rebellious children!
Says the Lord.
[Isaiah 30:1]

"Hey, LORD?"

[SILENCE.]

"Yeah; I figured.
You ain't TALKIN' to me!"

[SILENCE.]

"So?
(Look up at air vent.)
What else is NEW?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Hey, LORD?
At my Shell station, tonight,
the cheapest stuff went
up to 3 bucks and thirty-one
CENTS!"

"Yes, My child."

"Well, what'd YOU care?
You're just sittin' up
There, on that CLOUD!
YOU don't have 'ta DRIVE!"

"I'm right Here,
My child."

"Whatever;
hey, we did some more
of that Isaiah, tonight.
Man, was it BRUTAL."

"Which Part, child."

"ALL of It!
All It is.....is
'Woe' to this guy,
and 'Woe' to THAT guy!"

[NOD.]

"Yeah?
So....when are Ya gonna
woe it to these big oil SHEISTERS,
and all the millionaire PRESIDENTS?
HUH, Lord?"

"You're angry,
little one."

"Darn TOOTIN', I am!
You don't do ANYTHING,
Lord! All You do is SIT
up There!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"You just don't seem that
POWERFUL to me, LORD!
Never DID!"

"I know,
My child."

"Yeah.
Well......don't worry
about it. Everybody's
got their drawbacks."

[SOLEMN NOD.]

"Yeah.
Most 'a my life,
Lord, You always
seemed kinda puny:
and far off;
kinda like that
little guy talkin'
behind
the Wizard Of Oz:
REMEMBER him?"

"Yes,
My beloved."

"Yeah;
everybody in Oz
was scared to death
of him - till, Dorothy
went behind the
curtain and showed
him up.....REMEMBER?"

[PATIENT NOD.]
"Is that what you're
afraid of, child?"

"What."

"That I'm the Wizard
of Oz?"

"I dunno.
It just seems You
SAY a lotta stuff;
and, then people
down here just
get away with murder -
and takin' advantage
of the LITTLE people!"

"Yes.
[PAUSE.]
I know, My beloved."

"And, I just don't
see Ya, there, Lord.
I just don't see
Ya there."

"Look for Me,
child."

"WHERE?"

"Here:
behind
the Curtain."

And the Lord
will cause
His majestic Voice
to be heard
and the descending
blow
of His Arm
to be seen.....
The Assyrians
will be terror-stricken
at the voice
of the Lord.....
