God's Plan of Redemption 4/14/08 (Revised 4/20/08)

You knew from the start what You would do,
Your Creation a thought in Your mind.
You wanted to create something of You,
But You knew in the end what You'd find.

You gave man a start in Paradise
Where the fall of man began so soon.
The serpent tempted Eve with his lies
And she succumbed to his evil tune.

This brought upon man a Holy curse,
And he was cast out of Paradise,
But things from there only got worse and worse,
Man was disobedient, surely not wise.

You pleaded with man to come back to You,
To be Your people once again.
Then they promised and made altars new,
But immediately returned to sin.

You would send Your righteous punishment down,
To help them see their ungodly ways,
To turn their hearts back to You and around,
To help lighten and lengthen their days.

They would repent and obey for a while,
But soon turn back to their wicked ways.
They went on in their evil and guile,
Until You decided to end their days.

There was one righteous man upon the earth,
To him You gave Your excellent plan.
And though he was questioned as to the worth,
Worked on as he'd heard from the Man.

He and his sons built an ark that would hold
A pair of each creature on the earth.
For his God and this task, he was bold,
To give Creation a new birth.

After the flood and new beginning,
God hoped man would know He meant what He said.
But man, again, began in his sinning,
And man, in his trespasses, was dead.

God had known from the start how it all would end.
The thing He did not want to have to do,
Was to the earth, His only Son send,
To pay for the cost that had accrued.

But send Him He did, out of the love,
Of a Father Who knew the deadly fate,
Of a people who will not move
Out of a greedy, sinful, lustful state.

And Jesus Christ came out of the love
Of His Father and people He gave.
He let Himself come down from above
To help and save the whole human race.

Christ knew His mission here on this earth,
The horror and shame He would have to face,
But in each human being He saw worth,
And for us He took on the disgrace.

While He was here, He taught and He loved,
He healed the sick and raised the dead.
He never thought Himself to be above
Healing lepers and with them breaking bread.

He bent so low as the washing of feet,
To show us how to love one another.
His Father's commands, all He did meet,
He called all His sisters and brothers.

He came for one thing; to die in our place,
To take the whip, the thorns, and the rod.
He also gave us mercy and grace
To have a relationship with God,

To have our many sins forgiven,
To come to our Father to pray,
Let us not with ourselves be smitten,
Let us kneel down and humbly obey.

The best news is that Jesus is risen,
Sitting in Heaven at God's right hand,
Which gives us all hope and peace within
The knowledge we're going to that Land.
