Then Moses
led Israel
onward from the Red Sea....
...they went
three days
in the wilderness
and found no water.
When they came to Marah,
they could not drink the water
of Marah
because it was bitter.
[Exodus 15:22-23]
********************************
"ECH!
(Spit.)
(Spit!)
Hey, LORD?
This is AWFUL!"

"What is, child."

"This STUFF
You DRAGGED me to!
ECH!
(Spit up.)
(Choke.)
GOSH, LORD!
What IS this stuff,
ANYWAY?"

"Water for you,
My child.
[SEEMINGLY MEAN PAUSE.]
What's wrong with it."

"ECH!
ICH!
(GAG!)
(Cough!)
(Sputter!)
What IS this STUFF, anyway?"

"I told you,
My child:
it's your water."

"What're You: NUTS?
I can't believe You BROUGHT
me here!
THIS stuff is like POISON!
(Heave!)
(Spit!)
ECH!
What're Ya: CRAZY?"

"No, My child."

"What IS this STUFF?"

"My water for you."

"WELL, it's HORRIBLE!
How COULD YOU?
(Gag!)
I thought You were my FATHER!"

"I am, child."

"What're Ya: NUTS?"

[SILENCE.]

"What're Ya: CRAZY?
I can't DRINK this awful STUFF!
(Spit up.)
(Grimmace!)
(Spit up, again.)
HEY, LORD!
What kinda FATHER are YOU?
What're You: NUTS?"

[SILENCE.]

"I can't BELIEVE YOU!
I thought You were
supposed 'ta LOVE ME!"

"But I do, My child."

"YEAH?
Well, SOME love!
(Spit.)
Have You TASTED this stuff,
LORD?"

"Yes, My beloved.
[PAUSE.]
I have."

"Well.....
(Cough!)
(Spit!)
Well, what d'Ya want
ME to do with it, LORD?"

"Take This, child.
And, put It in the water."

(Spit!)
(Gag!)
(Gasp!)
(Wipe tears from eyes.)
"Yeah?
What's THAT?"

"My Word."
***************************
And the people
murmured
against Moses,
saying,
What shall we drink?
And he cried
to the Lord;
and the Lord
showed him
a tree,
and he threw it
in the water,
and the water
became sweet.
[Exodus 15:24-25]

Very dramatic. Might be difficult for some to make a connection. Wonder if you could try ending, "My love, child: [gentle voice] My only begotten Son."

You know... For God so loved the world... Connects it to the tree that made the waters sweet.

Just my thought. It made me smile. Thanks.

Yes, I know. But, being
raised Jewish, I'm just
beginning to see the Lord Jesus for Who He really Is.
God Bless.
