Encouragement
Sales people have an inspirational booklet they can receive called "Bits and Pieces". Its full of quotes and sayings that help invigorate the mind and heart, give people reason to have hope, try harder, etc. Its written to inspire, and it generally does a very good job. It seems that certain words of other people have a way of impacting lives. That's interesting, very interesting.
The ability of one person to affect another for good or bad is reflected in Scripture, with the commands to be light and salt in the world, that other people might see your good works and praise your God. Do they praise your god when they don't hear them? Yes, they do. Your god lets them off the hook, relieves them of their accountability to the one true God. Who's your god?
Dr. Maxie Dunnam, president of Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky, said the doctrine of personal holiness was the most neglected doctrine in Protestant Christianity. This has been a very convicting statement for me lately. Actions come from the thoughts and drives of the heart as much as words, and speak with louder volume than words. Where have I been lately, and what have I been seen doing? Which god or God do those actions praise, or cause others to?
A nationally known Gospel group has an interesting feature. A fellow worker said recently that their stagehands had the best dirty jokes he had ever heard. I feel badly for the singers to have it said that their own associates had not taken in the truth of their own called work. Where is the message coming unraveled, what's not getting through? Are the offhanded comments not staying "salty"?
In the movie "Ten Commandments", the pharaoh returns to the palace and says to his wife "Israel's god is God". He has just witnessed the total annihilation of his army in the Red Sea, and the deliverance of Israel from his clutches. Who is your god? What effect is it having on those around you?

This is another good message. I've not heard of the term "doctrine of personal holiness". As usual your writing causes me to think (I want to remember this one for a long time.)
