THE KING’S PERSPECTIVE

The modern woman of today is overwhelmed by the various roles and expectations placed on her by the rapidly changing society. The woman still wears different hats at different times. She is a mother, a daughter, a wife, an office executive, a leader in her church, …and the list goes on. The pressures of her various roles can be overwhelming, but also stressful. Most women are liable to feeling that they are not living towards their full potential.
As a mother of three teenagers, a wife, and a full time employee, I feel this challenge every day. I m often entangled by the complexities of a busy life, and these frustrations make me feel neither useful or influential. As I seek God diligently, He is teaching me that in order to live a life of purpose and effectiveness in the midst of a frantic and disc ambulated world; I must perceive things the way He perceives them.
Several years ago my family immigrated to the United States from Africa and we found ourselves unstable, shaky and confused due to the cultural shock of settling in a foreign country. This seemed to bring my spiritual growth to a standstill and I remember in the middle of this confusion and uncertainty, the Holy Spirit reminding me that If I focused my eyes on God, He would give me “perfect peace“…(Isaiah 26:3). As I started seeking God and trusting in Him, I started seeing a way out and believed He would accomplish the good work He had began in my life. I started adopting the perception of the King of Kings-Jesus Christ.
There is something miraculous that happens in a woman’s life when they start thinking the way God thinks. He wants us to think and act like Him and in doing this, we live more victorious and abundant life. God’s ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Thus, we have to purposefully determine to know what He is thinking, a task possible only by studying His word. The following are a few things I have learned from God. These things have completely transformed my life and increasingly made me more effective in my Christian walk.
First, a woman is God’s idea and her identity is in Him, not in the World. By accepting Jesus Christ, God has given us the power to be His daughters. unlike human beings, God does not change what He thinks about me for He is the same yesterday, today and forever. From time to time my spouse will change what he says about me, and similarly I find this is so in other relationships as well. People change their opinions about me depending perhaps on what I have done or not done, but this is not so with God. He is always captivated and in love with me even when I am at my worst. He always has good plans for my life; plans to prosper and bless me and give me His unconditional love. I have found a great deal of stability in thinking about what He thinks of me, and as a result have become more confident of who I am and what I can do.
I have learned to enjoy all my various roles in life by thinking what God thinks about what I am doing. God wants me to do whatever I do as an act of worship, and as service to Him. At my office, I work diligently as an act of worship and service to my King and not just eye service to man. This is because I understand true promotion comes from God and not man. As I do this, God gives me supernatural abilities to perform my job and to be an excellent worker. As I learn to submit to earthly authority as though I am submitting to Christ, He has continued to give me favor with man and pour a blessing in my life. As I am faithful with the little, I have seen God bring greater opportunities in my life. I have learned the hard way that only God changes man’s heart and through prayer, I am seeing God work in my spouse and children’s lives. I no longer struggle and try to change people as I used to do. I have become a much more stable woman.
Many women go through a lot of trials and I know God would like us to perceive them the way He does. God wants us to persevere through trials so we can be pure and take the likeness of His son Jesus Christ. I used to believe trials took me further from God. I was shaky and often complained when I went through difficult times. By learning God’s perspective on trials, I now know He often uses them to transform me into the likeness of His son. He wants me to go through trials joyfully and allow them to produce patience in me. God reminds me Jesus did not promise a problem free life, but in fact said that I would go through tribulations with Him on my side. God has a way of escape for every trial we go through. He tells me not to compare the present sufferings with the glory that He is about to reveal in me. In Psalm 34:19, He tells me there are many afflictions of the righteous but he delivers them from all of them.

Today, I believe God is calling women back to His heart. He wants us to be one with Him and abide fully in His love so we can comprehend fully His will for us. He wants us to live a higher life, not one characterized by anger, frustrations, jealous, gossip and all other fruits of the flesh. He desires us to walk in a spiritual highway…flying high like eagles in the spiritual realm of high places. This is where we find strength, peace, and soon find the natural stumbling blocks become stepping stones to greatness in Christ. We find we start seeing things, our circumstances, relationships and everything else different from the World. At this point, God can trust us to be effective and influential in His Kingdom. Our King’s perspective is eternally based, and we too need to see our life in the context of eternity. I believe most of us are living for “here and now” and this in itself limits us to achieving our higher calling. A woman who lives with an eternal perspective is able to overcome great obstacles here on earth as she is expecting a much greater heavenly reward.
In conclusion, I would like to state that the women have the basic role of reflecting the love of God to the world, they are to be their husband’s helper and a life giver to their children. These are natural as well as spiritual roles, and women need to seek God and know His perspective so they can accomplish these roles successfully.
