The Crowd

He is coming this very day
Listen to what the people say
Blessed, He comes in the name of the Lord
Through Him our hope is assured

I am in the crowd
My voice is ringing loud
Laying palm branches on the road
Through this my affection showed

Miracles follow the Lord
Lepers healed and sight restored
I am there in the crowd today
To the approaching Messiah I pray

I’m in the crowd today
Listening to what Pilate has to say
Jesus is there bruised and battered
On display before the crowd that is gathered

Tradition will free only one
The crowd to choose what is done
“Barabbas” together we all cry
Thus choosing Jesus to die

What shall I do with Jesus?
“Crucify Him” is our consensus
“Crucify Him” we shout out loud
I am there in that crowd

Swayed by the moment
Caught up in the emotional ascent
Shouting praises with each breath
Shouting equally for His death

I am there in the crowd
Shouting both just as loud
I was there at His triumphant entry
And I was there when He was hung on the tree





Brothers and sisters,

I know that this message is blunt. It should cause you to stop and think. It is the same crowd that was placing the palm branches before Jesus’ colt as He entered Jerusalem that was shouting for Him to be crucified at Pontius Pilate’s court. It is the same in our lives today.

If you don’t see parallels between the lives of people in the Bible and our lives, then you may be overlooking something vital. Though we many not have lived back in the days that Jesus walked the earth, we were still part of both crowds. This is the duplicity of our lives. It is for our sins that the Lord chose to come and be sacrificed.

Take a look at this week in the life of Jesus and meditate upon the Word. Ask the Lord for wisdom and discernment as you reflect upon these passages and you will be amazed what the Lord will reveal.

If you are a believer I ask that you pray this prayer and be renewed in your faith and grow in the Lord. If you have not given your heart to the Lord I pray that you pray this prayer and begin your new life in Christ Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Father, I thank you for Your wisdom and mercy. I know that You knew my failures before my creation and in Your mercy You provided a way of atonement that no animal sacrifice could complete. I thank You for sending Your only begotten Son, Jesus, to take upon Him the punishment for my sins and I thank You for His resurrection assuring my place in heaven. Lord, forgive me my sins and be the ruler of my life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

New believers, by saying this prayer you acknowledge your sins and ask for forgiveness from the only One who can forgive sins. You also acknowledge that it was through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that your sins can be forgiven. Asking Jesus to be Lord of your life allows the Holy Spirit to enter into you and be your guide for living.
