I recently watched a movie about bees and absolutely loved it! They’re so intelligent and organised—my kind of insect. They play a very important role in nature and I respect that, but I must be honest, there is something about them that can be quite annoying.
I don’t know if all that buzzing around is because they are seeking attention or because they just like to be a nuisance, but personally, I can’t take it. I just shoo them away with whatever I can get my hands on. I never kill them of course, but I do make sure that they leave me alone—if you know what I mean.

Just the other day I saw the same happen with my son; only this time the bees were girls! Years ago it was girls who were the targets, they were like flowers being sought after by bees. Girls were gentle, sweet, lovely, kind, discreet, full of grace, and beautiful. Boys felt privileged when they were accepted as their boyfriend. But something has happened along the years—something so drastic that it has changed girls from flowers to bees.

Nowadays, it’s not unusual to find a boy surrounded by many girls. Boys have a hard time choosing who to go out with, and girls have a hard time being singled out from among their friends. It’s a battle out there, a feminine war. Who will get the boy this weekend? Who can get the most attention this week? Who will the boys talk about this week?

And so they laugh louder and pretend to be interested in a boy’s immature jokes just for the sake of flirting. I’m sorry, is it just me, or have you all noticed this as well? All the innocence and beauty that we once treasured as girls is now history. The cool thing nowadays is to be the one who gets the most boys at the end of the day… and as they grow older, they get even more desperate to have a boyfriend, without one, they just can’t be happy.

How about changing the tactics? How about going back to being the flower in this story? It’s so much better and less damaging to our self-worth. It’s a boy’s nature to hunt and conquer, but how can he ever do this when girls don’t give him the chance to do so? Conquering girls has become too easy, too simple and quite boring. And so the girls are alone and the boys are sitting on top of the fence, still deciding which one to choose. And might I add, they are sitting there quite comfortably.

If you’re a young girl or woman, don’t settle for the first man that comes your way. Be a lady. Take your time and choose carefully. You’re a very delicate flower that needs the best of the best. Anything less just won’t do for you. And when you find the right one, make it a little hard for him—like a test. If he doesn’t give up easily it’s because he’s the bee you’ve been waiting for.
