My Father, when there is no one left but Thee and me, the truth becomes so very clear. Everything else has always been just passing. Love and loss, joy and sadness, all either enjoyable or endurable, the warp and woof of life. The beauties of creation, the divinity of every living thing: it all comes full circle. The sad mistakes and the bright victories all meld into a rainbow circle of completion. I was with You in calm stillness before, and I am with You in calm stillness after.

I somehow managed to put such horrible ingredients into the pot of stew that is my life, but You have seasoned it with such rich portions of love and forgiveness, and stirred it with such faithfulness that it has become not only palatable, but wonderfully delicious.

Thank you, my beloved Father, for the indescribably beautiful gift of life--and for being with me through every living moment of it. You are more real to me than anything my eye can see.
