David was a shadow young man, no title, no armour, no trained military skills, nothing fancy to approach the giant .It didn’t matter to David how he looked or what was people thought of him. Everybody saw the giant, David he just saw his God. Sure he had a few bear experiences maybe a lion of two but nothing like the foe he was about to meet. David’s experience as a warrior did not match up to Goliath but he did not allow his inexperience to hinder his passion to win.

He refused to allow his mind to dictate to him into believing that he may not succeed against Goliath. It was another Esther moment for David. If I perish, I perish but I will not bow down to any demon or any tongue that exalts itself against the knowledge and power of my God. No foe can stand against God’s people and triumph. David’s victory was established in his prophetic victory speech in the face of adversity. He stood with no trembling hands, quivering voice or shaking knees. He stood saying hey you can take me out but you can’t take out my God and as long as I come in his name, I am in the majority here. Goliath you are on your own. He looked at the snarling giant, cursing tongue, vile mannerisms, cynical jeering but was not moved. He stood as a victor. My God has already given you to me. I will strike you down Goliath and I will cut of your head for all the earth will know my God does not need a sword or spear, it is his battle and he will win it for me.

You don’t need to be a brain surgeon to do the math and figure out whose time was up and who was going down. Six feet tall, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Goliath, his seconds were numbered. A child of God entered the scene and wherever children of covenant place their feet, they possess the ground. The majority ruled and with God on David’s side and with the high praises of victory in his mouth, the giant was brought down to nothing.

A mere youth was this David but a strong confessor of his God .He knew the power, he proclaimed the victory before he even saw the outcome. The evidence of the moment could have been quite intimidating to David, a huge ferocious, uncouth barbaric encounter with a giant yet the evidence did not predict the outcome, YAHWEH did. David walked into enemy territory to take the enemy out. His weapon of warfare was not carnal but mighty before God tearing down the strongholds and Goliaths, rending them to naught, setting the captives free and restoring victory on earth as it is ordained by God in heaven. He took the victory from heaven and activated it on earth by establishing it with the power of his tongue even when the situation was displeasing to look at and barren to envisage.

David’s victory against Goliath is the type and shadow that portrays the victory of Christ over satan, the victory that has already been ordained for us against the power of darkness. Don’t live yourself short of how you were meant to live .We were meant to live victorious, overcoming, fruitful and abundant lives.
David comes from the tribe of Judah. Judah means praise .He took praise to a greater level when it turned prophetic. He declared it in confession and that which was naught became as if it were. He took it from supernatural to the natural, from the unseen to seen, from nothing to something and the divine glory of God sanctioned it into being. Prophetic praise inhabited David’s lineage and equipped him to reign with this mandate. David had that confidence, because he knew the wonderful and precious promises of the Lord God. He didn't just know them in his head; he believed them in his heart. He stood before Goliath with constant unwavering faith. He looked at adversity eye-to-eye, face-to-face and refused to let this mountain stand in his way. Mountain, Goliath, sickness, poverty, heartache, despair, debt, you name the giants that are standing in your way, call it face to face, you devil be thou removed, be cast into the sea in Jesus name. My God does not need a sword or spear but with his word and the testimony of my mouth, I will win. I will overcome .I will succeed. I will not bow down to any demon of affliction. You dare defy me, my household, my well- being that stand in covenant with a holy God. I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty. This day the Lord will hand you over to me and all will know that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give me the victory.

The power in our tongues activates the word that works. Watch the word work because victory is sweet. David had a genuine faith. His faith was not based upon the unreliable words of men. Neither was his faith disillusioned by the pompous arrogance of man’s feeble strength. His faith was based upon the trustworthy Word of the Lord God who never abandons His people. Many of us have Goliaths to face and if God can win this for David, how much more he would do for us because of his son Jesus who is our very own mediator and armour.
David’s battle with Goliath has a few keys we can use for living large in Christ.

a) Possess continual, renewed, refreshed, anointed prophetic praise in your head and heart and declare it with your mouth daily. Let your confessions be sweet with the testimony of victory.

b) Face your giant eye to eye. Don’t hide away in fear. Look adversity and affliction in the face and cut it down to naught in the name of Jesus. You have the Almighty on your side. You have a God.

c) Use the word to fight your battle. Work the word and let the word work for you. It is the incorruptible and imperishable promise of God that lives and abides forever.

d) Always live above and not beneath .If God is for you and with you, who can be against you. Live a covenant life, which is a life of continual relationship with God.

e) Take out that Goliath (giant) once and for all. Victory is always sweet for you on earth as you glorify your father in heaven.

f) Give glory to God always for his divine intervention for your victory.

Prayer thought
I love you O Lord my strength. You Lord are my rock, my fortress and my deliverer, in whom I take refuge. You are my shield. With your help Lord I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. I can overcome and win against every giant. Your way is perfect and your word is flawless. Let your word fill my heart, mind and mouth as I declare life into every barren situation I am facing today. You are a shield for all who take refuge in you. Help me to taste and see that you are good. Blessed am I who places my trust in you, I will not be ashamed.
