Faith

Anxiety
in a man's heart
weighs him down,
but a good word
makes him glad.

You care about,

and sins, and everything!
What about the
REAL stuff?"

"These are real,
My beloved."

"Yeah.....to YOU,
maybe. But,
like I said before,
Lord: You're just
a SPIRIT!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Well.....it's true,
Lord! YOU certainly
don't have 'ta
worry about gas
prices, and stuff."

"Don't worry, My child."

"Yeah, but that's
hard to do when
you're a real human,
Lord. Ya KNOW?"

"Read My Word."

"Why.
Is there something
in There,
about votin for
a President who
won't cow-tow
to those darn,
...DARN...
oil sheisters?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"Okay. Okay!
I'll read It:

Therefore,
I tell you,
do not be anxious
about your life,
what you shall eat
or what you shall
drink....nor....
what you shall put on.
Is not life more
than food?
And the body
more than clothing?
[Matthew 6:25]

Yeah.
(Pout.)
I guess, Lord."

"Read My Word, child."

"I still say You
don't know what
it's like, Lord:
I mean,
about real LIFE."

"Tell Me, child."

"What, Lord:
how much I paid
for GAS tonight?"

"No."

"Then,
about WHAT?"

"Life, child."

"What d'Ya wanna
know about it,
Lord: that's
it run by a bunch 'a
rich oil guys?"

"Who runs it,
My precious?"

"Eh......certainly not
me, Lord. I can only
take responsiblity
for my own scrubby
backyard."

[NOD.]
"Then Whom,
child?"

"Eh....I dunno, Lord.
The Christians tell
me that YOU do."

"Do you believe, child?"

"Sometimes.
(Pout.)
It depends on my mood."

[CHUCKLE.]

(Silence.)

"Hey, LORD?"

"Yes, child?"

"If You do run the
world...... then I
expect those
gas prices to
come down,
by TOMORROW!"

"We'll see, My precious.
[PAUSE.]
Keep your eyes on Me."

Look at the birds
of the air:
they neither sow
nor reap
nor gather into barns,
and yet your Heavenly Father
feeds them.
Are you not of more
value than they?
And which of you
by being anxious
can add one cubit
to his span of life?
