Unshakable Love

Is our love strong enough to carry us through, when we have loved ones that are mentally unstable? In almost every family in the United States, we can find a family member who is mentally unstable. Whether they are suffering from depression, suicide, alzheimers, dementia, the list can go on forever. Is our love strong enough to carry us through day after day of caring for these people?
I know from personal experience, how hard it is to deal with a person day after day that is suicidal. I love her with all my heart, but when life is too hard, she would rather die than stay here with me. She has suffered so much in this life at the hands of hurtful people, that when she is suffering she needs to escape. The only way she can see to stop the pain is to die. She has so far only threatened suicide. I have had to go to work, afraid all day that I would return at the end of the day to find her dead. The scariest part of this is she does not tell me when she feels this way. In addition, for whatever reason others who know feel it is best not to tell me. So there are times that she is thinking for years of killing herself, and I never know. Thinking that our lives are good, and we are close only to find out later that I am one of the reasons she wants to die. I try to give her everything I can in life, I try never to hurt her or anger her. Nevertheless, the deep dwelling pain in her heart is just two much for her to bear.
I know I am not the only one who has a family member who is like this. Perhaps your loved one is not suicidal perhaps they just do not know who you are anymore, except in small moments of time. On the other hand, perhaps your children run at you with murder in their eyes. With their fist drawn back wanting to do you harm.
Is our love strong enough to carry us through these circumstances? I say a lot of times no, it is not. I know we love them with all our hearts, and we do the best we can to be patient with them, knowing it is not their fault. Except there is no way around the fact, that at times, your love just seems to be too weak. That is fine, because when you are weak God is strong. God is a love that can not fail a love that can give you strength to stand against the greatest mountain in your life. God's love can not be defeated and when you are at your weakest, His love will shine though you. If God loved each one of us enough to send his son to die for us when we were evil, and mentally unstable. Than God loves your suffering family members enough to give you the love and strength to be there everyday for them.
In addition, I believe that love is not something that is based on circumstances. It is a commitment of your heart that says no matter what, I believe this person is worth all my strength to be here for them and to see to it that they have the best life possible. Moreover, never forget that God can heal anyone of anything. In addition, if you are holy and under the holy blood of the Lord Jesus, God hears your prayers and is always there for you.
