maybe, the Lord just wanted
some rest time from all

all this stuff, ANYWAY?"

"For My children."

"Well, it certainly
wasn't for ME! ICH!"

You are wrong."

"Neah! I am NOT!"

"Read It again, My child."

"It's really disgusting.
(silent reading)
How come You didn't
write something PLEASANT,
Lord? How COME?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"The only thing I like,
outta this whole Part,
Lord, is the PORCUPINE!"

"Read It, child."

"Yeah. Here it is:

For I will rise up
against them.....
and cut off from Babylon
the name and remnant....
I will also make it
a possession for the
porcupine.
And marshes of muddy water.

"See, Lord;

[PATIENT PAUSE.]

"I think the porcupine
is really CUTE, Lord!"

[PATIENT NOD.]

sure. It's either about
Israel, or the Assyrians:
somethin like that."

[ANOTHER PATIENT PAUSE.]

"You're gonna rise
up against SOMEBODY!"

"Who, child."

"Eh....ASSYRIA?"

[NOD.]
"Why, child."

"Eh.....cuz, You need
some place to put the
PORCUPINES?"

[LAUGH!]

"SEE, Lord?
I'm still tryin to find
some comic RELIEF,
here!"

"Where, child?"

"In Isaiah.....or,
maybe, just in life,
Lord."

"Yes, child.
I know."

And Babylon,
the glory of kingdoms....
Will be as when God
overthrew
Sodom and Gomorrah.
It will never be inhabited....
wild beasts of the desert
will lie there,
And their houses
will be full of owls.
[Isaiah 13:19-21]
