BLINDED BY SATAN

I once had eyes that could not see
And ears that could not hear
I was blinded by satan
To the gospel I did not adhere

But God came to my rescue
Though I perceived it not
He was making the providential changes
To bring me to salvation’s spot

A cottage with no power
But the power of the Holy Spirit
While reading through the Word of God
He drew me, drew me near it

My eyes were truly opened
My ears heard from His Word
Salvation is to humble yourself
And trust in Christ the Lord

In obedience to that command
I hastened to my knees
Confessed my sin to Almighty God
And felt forgiveness waves

Billows and billows waved over me
I was not saved by emotion
But by trusting in the Word of God
The Great Physician’s lotion

God had finally met my need
The need of every man
To receive true cleansing through the blood
That was shed, by God the Lamb

Righteousness exceeding that of
The scribes and Pharisees
Clothed with the righteousness of Jesus Christ
The sinners perfect plea
Up from the grave He arose
That hymn sure says it best
With a mighty triumphant o’er His foes

We are wondrously blessed
