Getting the Real

Do you ever feel like the Apostle Paul when he said “Romans 7:15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I?” Do we get frustrated because our desire seems right yet we still never enter in to what we know that God has promised? The problem is incorrect belief or thinking. We are told in Romans 12:2, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” We need our minds changed from worldly imaginations to being full of God’s knowledge. Here is how we get there.

Matthew 9:29 Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith (belief) be it unto you.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith (belief) it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Mark 2:22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.

2 Cor 10:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (natural or fleshly mind), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh (carnal earthly nature) cannot please God.

God is bound by His word. God honors faith or belief. Jesus said in Mathew 13:58, that He could not do the mighty works because of their unbelief. It takes faith or belief to please God or to even receive from God. I have heard often times that God is not moved by need, but by our faith or belief. We must believe that God can and will do for us as He said or promised in His Word.

The next challenge is that we have believed something! We either have believed His Word or a lie from the enemy. If we were believing His word there would be no problem. The truth often times is that we have believed a lie from the pit and are calling it truth. Here then is the problem. God said that He could not put new wine in old bottles. We seem to want the new yet we still have the old bottles full of the junk substitutes. In order to get the new wine; we must get rid of the old. Consider the analogy of a two-car garage that has two cars in it. We desire a new car, yet because the garage has two cars in it there is no place for the new one to go. Until we get rid of the old, there is no place or room for the new. Faith believes that if we get rid of the old, that God will supply the new. This takes belief and acting on our faith or belief. We need a thinking change. Our minds need transformed by renewing our mind with God’s word, which is truth.

In 2 Cor 10:4,5, we were told that our weapons are not carnal (natural thinking) but are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. A stronghold is a thought or a control of a demonic spirit in our mind that has a strong hold over us that we are allowing to control or dictate what we believe and act upon. The inability for us to believe can even be a demonic spirit of unbelief. God said that we must cast those imaginations down. We must get rid of the strongholds. We must bring all thoughts into obedience to God’s thoughts. When we hold on to the imaginations or strongholds we block the allowance of God’s thoughts. This is no different than the garage analogy. When the old thoughts take up the space, there is no place for the new ones. 2 Cor 10:5, refers to against the knowledge of God. Against something means that it is opposed or opposite God’s knowledge. When we allow the wrong thoughts to rule, we are actually allowing a substitute of the enemy to rule us, instead of the real that God chooses for us. In order for us to enter into what the Lord desires for us, we then must cast down or eliminate the wrong thoughts (the old wine) so we can gain God’s knowledge (the new wine) to rule in our minds.
