Ok, so the world will end soon. Well, the world as we know it. It’s about time. Frankly, I do not understand how it has survived this long. It seems to me we are way past the tipping point of evil destruction and have moved on to putrefying decay. However, that’s just my opinion, and we all know about opinions, don’t we? Still, we are facing equator-shaking changes. The question is not “will it end?” (or be changed in form, etc.); But, “what do we do between now and then. I mean now, right this second, and then, whenever that is.

How do people survive in putrid slime? How does the soul and spirit stay alive under these conditions? I can hear you saying “what conditions?” You may not have noticed (brainwashing will do that to you) but we now exist in a world without hope, without possibilities, and without a future.

We know we are destroying our planet, yet refuse to stop. We know our days are numbered, yet trudge along like little robots. We know we have lied, deceived, cheated, and stolen to get what we thought we wanted. We have kept our foot on someone’s neck while we were on the ground with a foot on our own neck. We have filled the earth with envy, jealousy, and hatred. We have fought wars, argued, and proclaimed our rightness above someone else’s rightness. We have believed our own lies. We have accepted our own science. We have analyzed our own knowledge.

The results are in. We know nothing. We have learned nothing. We own nothing. We have nothing. There is a good chance that most of us ARE NOTHING. Of course, we think we know, we think we own, we think WE ARE. Thinking does not pay for anything, but good try. Your consolation prize is ----- nothing.

There are laws in the universe we do not know about nor could we understand them if we did know. They are like a light switch we flip on, unaware there is a second switch, so we stumble around in the dark trying to find the light bulbs, only to discover that is not the problem. When we finally discover the second switch, voila, we have light. Who cares if that second switch caused half the city to black out? Who cares? Someone else, somewhere else, will suffer the repercussions of our actions or our ignorance.

Our rule is “Take care of Number One at all cost.” Good job world, you win the prize. Too bad, it is extermination. Even if the earth survives a little longer, soon we humans will be devoid of the characteristics that actually make us “human.” The traits of compassion, care for others, desire for others to succeed or even live are being eradicated. Life is cheap. Soon we will not care enough to make any more humans. Then, we will not care at all. Then we will just die off, proud to the very end of our evolution to selfishness. Gee, Mom and Dad would be so proud.

Should we hope there is a God or should we hope there isn’t one? Now that is funny. Do you really think it matters what we hope for? The universe exists. Organized in some fashion, it operates by some kind of rules that WE did NOT make. What will be will be. What will happen will happen. Who is is.

Maybe there is a rule somewhere that if you broke promises ten times during your life you would orbit Pluto for all eternity. But for only eight broken promises only 1,000 years of orbiting Pluto is required and then three laps around the galaxy. Whatever the rules are, they mean to sustain and perpetuate the universe, not us.

What are your rules to sustain and perpetuate your universe? I mean between the NOW and the THEN, what are you going to do in your own existence? Moreover, how big is your existence? Just you? Does it include your family? Your neighborhood? Community? Church? City? Country? Where do you draw the line when it comes to sustaining and perpetuating “your existence”?

My existence has no line. It includes you. Even if you are orbiting around a star in a galaxy far far away, it still includes you. My existence depends on you being sustained and your existence perpetuated. I know that we are connected, you and I, no matter where you are and that my slip ups could pull you down with me. I will try not to do anything that might accidentally hinder or harm you.

“Watch out for that black hole. I don’t want you to accidentally trip and pull me in with you. I heard rumors that it is very dark in there. Do you think GOD would come and rescue us?”
