Let This Mind
June 11, 2007
By Rick L. King
As a created being by God, we have several choices that we may make in how we live our lives. God’s Word says that we are too; “Let this mind be in us which was also in Christ Jesus”. The word “let” indicates that we have other options. We have actually a choice of three minds that we may allow to rule our thought life. We can have our mind which is self centered and self-pleasing. God says that they that are in the flesh cannot please Him. The word “flesh” means our own mind. So, to please God this is not a good option. Secondly, we may have the mind of the devil. We know that the mind of the devil is to kill, steal and destroy. This is of course not what God desires for mankind, so this also is not a good option. Thirdly, we may have the mind of Christ. The mind of Christ is not Jesus’ mind. This is the mind of the Father. Jesus said that He came not to do His own will but the will of the Father that sent Him. Jesus laid down His will and desires so that He might please His Father. Jesus said that what He saw the father do, that He did. What He heard the Father speak, that He spoke. The mind of Christ is therefore God’s mind in us.
Since we have three choices, then we each must decide whom it is that we are going to please. Having the mind of Christ will cost us something. Though having each mind will cost us, only one will give us a good reward. To have the mind of Christ, self must die out. We must come to the conclusion that it is not about me, but it is only about Him. We must learn to do things, which will draw us into His presence and allow us to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that it is the spirit that gives life. If we desire true life, then listening to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to lead and guide everything we do or say.
The Word says that some have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. We have many churches that appear religious, but they are walking in their own ways and desires. There is no move of God where people are saved and changed. They are caught up in many dead works. A church led by the Holy Spirit will bear good fruit. God’s power will be evident as people are saved, healed and delivered. They are not required to attend a class to receive from God, but God’s power is evident in the service. None that enters into the presence of God can leave without something occurring in their life. The anointing does break the yoke. God’s presence brings freedom and joy. God’s presence brings empowerment to do His will.
The real question that we all must answer is whom do we desire to please? When we stand before the Lord, I really think that this question is going to be asked. How will we answer?
