A river flowed
out of Eden
to water the garden,
and there it divided
into four rivers.
[Genesis 2:10]
************************
"Lord?
I just heard a sermon,
on the radio,
about living ABUNDANTLY."

[NOD.]

"Right now, I have
nothin' but abundant
indigestion. Why is
THAT, LORD?"

"Because you are human, child."

"Yeah, Lord.
(thoughtful silence)
I guessed that.
SO? What else is NEW?"

"Child, read My Word."

"Well, I'm doin' that, Lord.
Right now,
(sigh)
I've got this study on Isaiah."

[NOD.]

"So far, I don't like it."

"I know, My child."

"I mean, there's some
pretty poetry in Here,
but....."

"Read It, child."

"Here, Lord:

Let me sing for my beloved
a love concerning
his vineyard:
My beloved had a vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
[Isaiah 5:1]

Yeah, but then it goes on:

He dug it...........
and planted it with choice vines....
and he looked for it
to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.
[Isaiah 5:2]"

[PATIENT NOD.]

"It's all very DOWN, Lord.
Isn't there anything HAPPY
in this Book?"

"Go on, child."

"Yeah, but Lord,
we're only doing
Isaiah 6, this week.
I don't wanna'
get into TROUBLE."

"Read on, My precious."

"Okay, Lord!
But, if the teacher
gets mad at me,
I'll tell her it
was all Your fault,
OKAY?"

[PATIENT SIGH.]
[SOLEMN NOD.]
********************************
Therefore the Lord
Himself
will give you a sign.
Behold,
a young woman shall
conceive and bear a son,
and shall call His name
Immanuel.
[Isaiah 7:14]
