Drawn to the dark, moth to a flame,
A life that was blasphemy;
Owning a soul without a name,
I only lived for me;

I was carried by my own rage,
A love that hated my life;
Knowing I'm coming to the end of life's page,
I could not slow the stride;

I had to follow the law of my heart,
A sinner and his sin;
Drawn to its claws to tear self apart,
Lost in eternal din;

"Who'll deliver me from this death?
I can't save myself;"
I learned there's One who owns my breath,
Not wanting me in hell;

I saw in the Word, and felt His breath,
Truth to set me free;
Wanting to save me from the death,
He died in place of me;

"I had to follow the law of My heart,
Drawn to the cross with joy,
Like an artist with his art,
My grace I sought to employ;

"I had to live, I am the Life,
The Truth and the Way;
To free you from judgement, as with a knife,
All you need is to pray;

"I cannot deny Myself,
I am greater than Me;
The one I choose to save from hell,
Will be ever free."

Truly You're God who hides Himself
In darkness like the sea,
Yet the One who saves from hell
Became Light to me;

The law in me was my sin,
That's the truth from above;
The law of Your heart, now as was then:
Simply infinite love.
