You were the one who taught me so much
The one who quietly encouraged me
The one whose patience spoke volumes
The one who I so wanted to be like

Now you are gone
And with you a huge piece of me gone too.
I need to hear your encouragement
I need to see your patience
I just need to hear your voice.

But even through my sadness
Even through all my tears
You did not leave me without hope
You did not leave me alone.
For you left a legacy of faith within me

And as I remember you
I hear the encouragement of HIM
I feel the patient love of HIM
And through the example you set
I become more like HIM
