Satisfaction Guaranteed

Luke 9:17 “And all the people ate and were satisfied.”

It’s 5:00 p.m. in the evening on a typical Saturday. The Sun is setting outside. A mother is preparing dinner for her family. The kitchen door that leads to the back yard flings open, her nine year old son hot and sweaty from playing says, “Mom, what’s for dinner, I’m starving?” The mother answers, “Son, I’ve prepared plenty of food to satisfy you completely.”

When we daily eat of the Bread of Life, we will never go hungry. All of us who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled as the Lord Jesus promised. The Lord Jesus Christ has prepared all the spiritual food we need for satisfaction guaranteed. The Lord Jesus prepares the table for us to eat right in the presence of our enemy as He tells us in Psalm 23. The Apostle Paul probably hungered for Christ as much if not more than any of Christ servants. Paul was constantly praying for other believers to walk and live worthily of their calling in the Lord Jesus. He prayed for us to increase in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus being strengthened with all might according to His glorious power. These words came from a man who described himself as the chief of sinners. Paul’s food was to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering.

We must not ever forget that we who are in Christ have become partakers of His Divine Nature. Should we ever allow ourselves to be pulled back into this immoral sewer that is the world system? The answer to that question is no. However, we know that this world system will draw or pull on us constantly. When we starve ourselves of the Bread of Life, we begin to eat from this world. Christ told us to not labor or work for the bread that perishes, but for the Bread which leads to eternal life. When Christ spoke of the bread that perishes, I believe He was not only speaking of physical food, but also inferring to the things of this world (i.e., cars, houses, clothes, etc.). We must bow our knees continually to the God of our Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ in humility. When we delight ourselves in the Lord Jesus Christ, He gives us the desires of our heart and we are satisfied indeed.

In thee and thee alone O Lord let me find all my needs
Take away the lust, the selfishness, the pride, and all the greed
Fill my hungry and thirsty soul so full of your grace
That whenever the devil comes and knocks he finds no more place
