Transfer of Strength at the Cross

Luke 8:43-46 And a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years and had spent all her living upon physicians, and could not be healed by anyone, Came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His garment, and immediately her flow of blood ceased. And Jesus said, Who is it who touched Me? When all were denying it, Peter and those who were with him said, Master, the multitudes surround You and press You on every side! But Jesus said, Someone did touch Me; for I perceived that [healing] power has gone forth from Me.

The Cross is preached about, prayed about, and sung about all over this world by millions of people every day. However, I must ask “Do we know what really happened on the Cross?” What Christ accomplished on the cross for all of us who truly believe is absolutely incredible. It is not mere symbolism or just a gracious act of kindness. It is far deeper. Christ took upon Himself (His pure, clean, and sinless self) every vile, filthy, diseased, immoral, unclean, thing in the entire universe.

He took it so each of us who truly believe would no longer have to carry all that filthy baggage ourselves. Now He offers us an exchange or a transfer. He says if you desire you can have my strength in exchange for your infirmity. Christ always gives strength and power for our weakness.

His strength is only accessed through faith and faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Who is the Word of God? John 1:1 In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. John 1:14 And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we actually saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness, divine influence) and truth.

Now does that mean that He heals from physical disease or infirmity at every request. No, He does not. But He does give to all true believers in our time of need is complete rest. All (that leaves none out) who come to the Lord Jesus Christ laboring and heavy laden in this life receive continually complete rest for their Spirit, Soul, and Body.

The Cross is not some nice symbol of Christianity or just some piece of jewelry we ware around our neck. The Cross is where we are delivered and freed from sin, darkness, and Satan’s control in our lives. The Cross is also where we are delivered daily from the constant attacks of the enemy (Satan). The Cross of Christ is the only place where healing and strength can ever be found in this life. We must love and care for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ daily and sacrificially, but when we need strength there is but one place we can run. The Apostle Paul said “God Forbid that I should Glory in anything save or except the Cross of my Lord Jesus Christ.”

When pain and weakness become too much,
at the Cross I receive your healing and forgiving touch.
