Martin Luther King
Said, “I have a Dream”
Let freedom ring
Let us all sing

Now let me bring
Your attention to some happenings
Since our awakening
From the Dream of Dr. King

We no longer fear the rope
But rather the sell of dope
By youths who cannot cope
With lack of financial hope

Martin Luther King
Said, “I have a Dream”
In which boys and girls of different colors
Could come to love each other

For Dr. King it would be a nightmare
As he examined the young dream heirs
Whom as if they didn’t care
Now instead kill each other

Surely Dr. King
Didn’t dream of equal rights
And letting freedom ring
For us to freely fight-
(Each other)

Surely Dr. King
Didn’t proclaim, let us sing
Free at last, free at last
To the tune of gun blasts

Don’t you remember our past?

Dr. King’s dream is a little different today
If he was still gracing the pulpits and podiums
This is what he’d say

I still have a dream
That our black youth will love each other equal

I have a dream

That the sons of the sons of former slaves
Will stop sending each other to early graves

I have a dream

From the Georgia red hills to Mississippi state
Young black men would not drown in self hate

I have a dream today

That our youth would value the color of their skin
And deal with their character within

I have a dream

And since the bells of freedom have already rang
I now say to every hood crew and local gang

Free yourself from violence against one another
Learn to forgive and love each other

And when this happens
And we grab hold of this thing
We can bring to remembrance that spiritual
And begin to sing

And connect our present with our past
Singing,” Free at last! Free at last!
Thank God Almighty,
We are free at last
