"It's gonna' be a real
busy day, at work."

[SOLEMN NOD.]

"Not Saturday, either.
I've gott'a go to the
store."

[PATIENT NOD.]

"I need more kibble.
Plus, I'm almost
outt'a root beer.
(pause)
And, those little
cups of sherbet,
I like."

[PATIENT PAUSE.]
"Child?"

(munching on hotdog)
"Yeah, Lord?
What is it?"

[SMILE.
CHUCKLE.]
"What are you speaking of,
My precious?"

"Huh?
'Ya know, Lord;
Your Book says
Y'ur gonna' come
back soon.

(munch munch)
(sip 'a rootbeer)

I just thought
I'd let 'Ya know
which day wasn't
good for me,
that's all.
'Ya know, I'm
still reading that
Left Behind book.
(smile)
I'm a slow reader!"

[INIFINTELY PATIENT NOD.]

"What's a' MATTER,
Lord? Doesn't
EVERYBODY tell
'Ya, this STUFF?"

[LAUGH!]
"No!"

"Well, why NOT?
They SHOULD!
How else are 'Ya
gonna' KNOW....?"

"Read My Word, child."

"Which PART, Lord?
(listening)
I don't like that
part, Lord.
It's too scary."

[NOD.]
"I know."

"Alright.
Let me finish
my hotdog and beans.
(silence)
Wait a minute, Lord.
Lemme' put the bowl
down. The cat wants
to lick it.
(pause)

But, You SAID!"

"Who are you speaking
to, child?"

"You, Lord.
This isn't one of
those RIDDLES,
again, is it?
I gott'a get up,
early, Lord.

with the car,
and all."

[INFINTISSIMLY PATIENT NOD.]
"Who AM I, child?"

(thoughtful silence)
"The One Who
gave me my
HOTDOG?"

[SLOW NOD.]
"And?"

"My LIFE.........
back?"

"And,
Who knows best,
little one?"

"YOU do, Lord?"

[NOD.]
