Fudging their way into my mind,
Between my words of prayer;
All that I want to leave behind
Still returns, devoid of care;

From the words that seem to please You,
You form in me Your Son’s vision;
Fruit of His time that shows He is true,
Nailed to His cross, that dark mission;
Resulting strike against what hates me
Strikes with truth to set me fully free;

What’s in my heart fades away,
Followed by joy in the release;
Your goodness found when I pray;
Carnal rage is caused to cease;

Sin’s still here with each heartbeat
And follows me, followed by fears,
But since, in You, I am made complete,
Most my sins are between my ears;

Hating the voids felt in my skull,
Sickened by the chasms of my heart,
Wanting to leave this joy-robbing hull,
Join the Source of my new start;

Then what I see between my ears
Is the force that drives me to You;
Despairing hope allaying my fears
That only proves how You are true.
