Ready to die, ready to live,
Ready to love, ready to give,
To lose oneself as no real loss,
To place one’s will upon a cross;

A pattern of life learned from His dying,
Of poor gaining grace without buying;
Walking by faith, not heeding what’s seen,
Rising above what’s common or mean;

Perceptions change; desires so follow;
Killing a god; the True One to hallow;
All is considered by His words and life,
Despite the gravity of blessings or strife;

Greatest of pains are buffered by purpose,
Laying up treasures where they can’t rust;
Holding this life while ready to leave it,
For our life is bound up in His Spirit;

To the point where we’re dead on a cross,
The life we once had is of no loss;
With love we now have, are ready to give
To the point of death, thus we live.
