Prophecy

As He sat on the
Mount of Olives,
the disciples came to Him.....
Tell us, when will this
be, and what will be
the sign of Your coming,
and of the close of the age.....?

"Yes, child?"

"How come these guys
didn't ask You more
important QUESTIONS?"

"Who, child?"

"THESE guys: Your
DISCIPLES!"

"Ah. Yes, child.
Tell Me."

"Well, it's just....I don't UNDERSTAND?"
If I had gotten to talk to
You, here on earth, I would've
asked You more interesting STUFF!"

"Like what, My precious."

"Well.......'Ya know, like:

'How did You make the giraffe?'
or
'Which was harder to create,
Saturn or Jupiter:
Saturn has those icy rings,
but Jupiter has more moons
and is bigger?'
'Ya know, Lord.....stuff like that."

[PATIENT NOD.]

"Or, maybe they did,
and nobody wrote about it."

[MORE PATIENT NODDING.]

"Or, maybe they weren't
interested in that stuff.
I don't think anybody went
to school, in those days.
They couldn't 've been
as smart as US, 'Ya know?"

[PATIENT SMILE.]

"Or, it might've been
'cuz of the 'Prime Directive'."

[LAUGH.]
"Tell Me, child!"

"Well, You know, Lord:
from STAR TREK!"

[VERY PATIENT SMILE.]
"Yes, child.
I know."

"YOU know about that, Lord?
That's WEIRD.
(thoughtful silence)
Well, anyhow......on the
Starship Enterprise,
they had a rule
that if they found a less
advanced civilization,
such as people from
another planet who
hadn't figured out
'Warp Drive',
they couldn't say anything
about future advances....
or, give them any hints
about discovering new things."

[GENTLE LAUGH.]
"Yes, child."

"WELL? Maybe, it
was somethin' like THAT;
I mean, maybe that's
why You refrained Yourself
from telling Your disciples
about.............I DON'T know:

the Last Frontier and the
Space Station, playing golf
on the moon, cars, DELL,
the iPod, text messaging,
microwaves, the light bulb, or
trash compactors.
(more thoughtful silence)

How about different color
contact lenses, DVD's,
telephones that take pictures,
low carb coca cola,
and the inside TOILET?"

[LAUGH!]

"WELL? How ABOUT it?"

"You're just trying to make
Me laugh, child!"

"Uh, UH, Lord!
I'm SERIOUS!
How COME?"

"Because I am the Lord,
CHILD."

"Yeah. Okay.
It's ALRIGHT.
I UNDERSTAND.
(irritated silence)
Speaking of CARS, Lord,
are You gonna' send
Michael down to wash
MINE? I'm still WAITING!"

"We've already discussed that,
My precious."

"Yeah! Well, I guess
we've discussed EVERYTHING
then, Lord!"

[PATIENT SMILE.]
"No, My child.
We haven't even started."

of the birth pangs.
