Although, at the time of writing, we are still in the chilly grip of Winter, and possibly have some snow and ice to come, surely we can be forgiven if we indulge ourselves with pleasant and comforting thoughts about the coming of Spring. Of course, there is a unique quality about Winter as well, with it’s frozen rivers, snow covered landscape, and the joyous magic of Christmastide.

Each season has it’s own beauty and importance in the great scheme of things, but Spring is special because it is a time of bidding farewell to the rigours of Winter, and welcoming the warmer days.

Spring is the time when nature comes to life again, where the trees proudly start to display their rich foliage, and the early flowers burst forth with a great symphony of colour and perfume. It is truly a time of rebirth, renewal, and hope of better times to come.

But life is like the never-ending cycles of the seasons, isn’t it? We grope through the darkness, wondering whether there is an end to all the problems that beset us. And yet there is always hope, for suddenly the storm clouds will disappear, and the darkness will give way to sunshine.

We are able to put our problems into perspective, to understand that whatever the cause of our worries we will always have the strength to face the future. Indeed, it is dealing with these very troubles that help to shape our character, and add to our knowledge.

Think about it, if we never had to endure life’s problems, then how could we ever learn the power of courage and patience. And if those around us never had to suffer, how could we learn to develop the qualities of sympathy, understanding, and sharing.

While we hold fast to our faith, our beliefs and values, there will always be the certainty that whatever troubles may come our way, we will be able to cope, and that like the coming of Spring, happier and sunnier days are just around the corner.
