GOD'S DEW - MY DIAMOND

The Lord woke me this morning with warm sunshine and a beautiful day.

(I didn't notice.)

Lying in bed till the last possible moment, I ignored His call to prayer and praise.

After a shower that lasted longer then my prayer, I saw a sink of dirty dishes.

Grudgingly I ran the water and started the chore. A glimmer caught my eye. It came from the grass surrounding the flower bed.

"Maybe it's a diamond!" My heart jumped.

Then Satan spoke (which doesn't surprise me. I'd been having a pity party.) "It's just a piece of trash, something worthless."

Stepping out the door (the dishes can wait), I went to find my treasure.

I saw tiny beads of dew hanging from the blades of grass as I knelt next to the bed.

The sun sparkled on them like diamonds.

I realized I had never seen dew drops before - at least not up close.

Gently I reached for one and felt it on my fingertips. Another I brought to my lips. It tasted sweet.

With dishes waiting I made my way back to the sink. The Lord spoke before I went inside.

"Those are more valuable then diamonds."

Drought came to mind. That's when I understood what God meant.

We may want diamonds, but the Lord knows what we need.

As diamonds are worthless to grass - sometimes what we want is worthless to us.

"The Lord will provide all our needs - according to His riches in glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Thank you, God for Your dew - my diamond.
