The Frightened Heart

You saw inside his frightened little heart.
You understood the turmoil right from the start.
Though he didn’t know,
Though he didn’t see,
You were there waiting there to set him free.

Holding onto a secret,
That no one could dare to know,
His deepest fears could never be shown.

Terror gripping his life,
Shame engulfing his questioning heart,
Trying to escape feelings,
That You didn’t plant.

Not understanding why he could feel this way,
Trying to find the person that he could blame.

Erratically living a life contrary to that shame deep inside,
Wanting to leave these desperate feelings behind,

No amount of drugs,
Could numb this misery that has plagued him from the start,
No amount of running could remove this blackened heart.
With Your perfect timing You stretched out your arms,
Stepping into his life,
And pulled him from harm.

Speaking to his heart as only You can,
Pulling him from the darkness,
You spoke Your will into his life and Your work began.

Removing the burdens he’d carried for years,
Removing his hearts scars,
That had been caused by his multitude of fears.

Giving him a life that he’d always longed,
The feeling of acceptance,
And a knowing that he belonged.

Only You Father God are the giver of life,
Only You Holy Spirit can cut through fears like a knife,
Only You Precious Jesus can protect from the evil one whose destruction is so rife.
