“Temptation is the pull of man’s own evil thoughts and wishes. These evil thoughts lead to evil actions and afterwards to the death penalty from God. So don’t be misled, dear brothers” (James 1:14-16) The Living Bible

Many years ago a situation occurred in our church where a visiting pastor was preaching something from his own soul that did not agree with any scripture. I made a point to bring it to his attention. He had no conception of agreeing with God before he spoke because he was glorifying his own image.

His only answer was, “Let’s agree to disagree”. I would not even do that because I didn’t agree with anything he taught and he was molding young minds in the wrong direction. If someone says those words to you they are really saying that it is okay to compromise the true meaning of God’s words – to stretch it a bit so it sounds better and is more palatable to people.

Those in leadership are accountable for what they teach to others and we must be wise in perceiving truth. The only way we will be able to distinguish God’s truth from untruth is to read His Word, meditate on it, and let The Holy Spirit teach us. Never agree to disagree when The Holy Spirit is telling you something is wrong.

PRAYER
Father, forgive us when we compromise in any way the validity of your Word. May each of us know you so fully that we never have to create our own spin to look good to others. Amen.
