I do not need any presents for Christmas. I have the Presence always with me. I have position: the highest attainable in this world. I am a child of God. I have peace that passes understanding and guards my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I sleep well. I have sufficient food, clothes and shelter and am therewith content. I need nothing more. I have promises this world knows not of and could never keep. But they will last forever. I have friends and family who walk with me in the Lord. His prayer line is always open for my call. Every breath is an expression of gratitude. This is my true situation.

But what the world sees and mistakes for reality is far different. I am almost eighty-seven years old, walk oh so slowly with help (but I walk!). Have aches and pains conversant with aging. Barely enough money to squeeze out medical needs, groceries, etc. A very plain Jane, I have lived an unspectacular life and will die the same way. Never accomplished anything much except raising a family and doing ordinary work. Never created much of a splash in life and won't in death; came quietly and will leave quietly. And the world will little note nor long remember (borrowed from Mr. Lincoln), but thank you, no, I don't need a thing for Christmas. I have all I'll ever need.
