The Religious Sect

I once met a group
From a religious sect
Which were out door knocking
To talk to anyone that them, they would let

I as usual didn’t want to listen
To what they had to say
But after I closed the door I realized
Who was the one that should run away?

If I was of God
Then they should be the ones that left
The table needed to be turned
As the truth they needed to get

I asked the Lord
What should I pursue?
The Holy Spirit then told me
To ask them, “why do you do what you do?”

They responded by saying
That the Bible says to make disciples of all nations
This is what we must do
We must talk to all creation

I responded with another question
That seemed to just flow out from me
I asked what is a disciple?
Is it something that with you I need to be?

I said that the disciples cast out demons
They prayed for the sick and lame
They even raised the dead
Through the power of Jesus’ Name

As a disciple do you do that?
If so, I should follow you
Do you lead people to salvation?
Is that something you also do?

The group then got real nervous
And started to stutter and walk away
They said that salvation comes after death
We just walk on in our way

I already had read God’s word
I knew what Jesus had said
So when I shared this Bible truth
They ran from me, instead.
