ELIJAH


With his hands folded on his lap and a pout on his face, the little boy sits on the carpeted step by himself, watching the other children play.

As his father enters the room, he instantly spots his boy. Going to the far end of the counter, he calls out his son's name.

As the voice settles upon the boy’s ears, his heart leaps. His father is there to get him! As he jumps to his feet a squeal escapes him. "DADDY!"

As his two year old body runs straight, his eyes are looking for the owner of the voice.

The rubber ball bounces the perfect height, allowing the boy to put his face right in the center of it.

A cry of shock, not pain, fills the room. While holding his nose he continues to run to the voice.

Raising the boy to his chest, the father looks for injuries. A quick kiss was all that was needed.

As I took Elijah out of the nursery, God revealed something to me. What happened to Elijah is very much like what happens to Christians each and every day.

Being the Lord's sheep we know His voice. When we hear Him call, we are more than happy to run to Him.

Our bodies run straight but our eyes are on other things. That's when Satan blind sides us.

But-PRAISE THE LORD-we don't stop there! Instead, we continue the journey to our Father and He kisses the hurt away.

Never does He call and not be there when we arrive. And never will He laugh at the injuries that we receive along the way.

Just like my son, we have to realize that our needs will be met when we arrive where God has called us.

We must remember to bind our wounds and keep on going.

Our heavenly Father is waiting patiently with a kiss and a hug.
