Unity! This is a powerful word. When people are in unity or agreement it means strength and power. The word unity in the Greek means agreement. We are told in:

Matthew 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as
touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in
Heaven.

Agreement is powerful in that Mathew says that when two or more agree in asking God, that it shall be done. Let’s look at some differences in people.

You and I can eat the same food, yet totally disagree on the taste, smell, or even the color. We can read a book and totally disagree on whether or not it was a good book. We can look at a car and totally disagree on what the best one is to have. This disagreement is normal as we all have different likes, tastes, and dislikes. These are ruled by our senses.

The real agreement comes by the Holy Spirit. God can take two people totally different in their likes, tastes, and dislikes and cause them to be in total agreement. The reason for this comes in that the Holy Spirit is unity. Unity comes by the Holy Spirit, not by the flesh. Comparing spiritual things with natural things will bring disunity. Paul said that the natural man receives not the things of God, but they are foolishness to him. 2 Cor 10:4.

I believe that God wants His Church walking in unity of the Spirit. The only way that can happen is people yielding to the Spirit instead of the natural man or understanding.

Have you ever had the Holy Spirit tell you something and found out that when you told someone else that they thought that it was ridiculous? The reason being is that their natural mind could not accept a spiritual truth. It made no sense to them. God’s ways often make no sense to the natural mind. To think that everyone is going to agree with you about what the Holy Spirit tells you, is foolish. Here is an eye opener. Not every Christian is in tune to the Holy Spirit. Not every Christian even desires to be. Why is that? To be in tune means that we have to allow the Holy Spirit to bring many changes not only to our hearts but also to our outward circumstances. Not every Christian is willing for God to do this, even though in the end it is the most glorious thing that God could ever do. We get to become more like Him. We get to walk in Holy Spirit power. Not everyone feels that way though.

Amos 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

The real point I wish to make is that people can not really walk in agreement except by the Holy Spirit. If you want to walk in unity with others, then you must seek out others that desire to hear from the Holy Spirit as you do. This will bring a life of peace and power.

Results of Unity!
Psalms 133:

2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Unity brings the anointing clear down to the skirts of a garment. This indicates that Aaron
was covered with the anointing. As a result of the anointing, God commanded the
blessing. So the progression is this:

Unity brings the Anointing; the anointing brings the Blessing from the Lord!

This seems a real great reason to walk in unity of the Spirit with another!
