Here in South Carolina, we have been in a serious drought for quite some time. Cities are fighting each other over water resources, and in one small town in Georgia, the town’s fire truck is being used to bring enough water back so that from 7pm-10pm, the water flows. The newspaper reports that many homes have began to crack their foundations, due to the long drought causing formerly solid ground to become unstable. The shifting sands are causing walls to crack and floors to collapse. It is a situation that will only get worse as the ground becomes more unstable daily.

When we don’t study our Bible, fellowship with other Christians, and spend quiet time alone with God, the foundations that our lives are built on can crack and collapse. We may find our morals slipping and shifting, and us becoming more accepting of things we know are sins. Our core values, the things that are the fundamental elements of our being, begin to sag. We can actually become completely pulled away from Our Master, just as a chimney cracks and collapses away from a house, because the foundation can no longer support it.

The Father designed us to drink from his Word daily. It is every bit as important as water, and as vital as the air we breathe. Our souls long to drink the cool, clean water of the Holy Scriptures. This dry, parched world is crying out for Spiritual Rain! Protect the foundation you have built your life and values on, by going to the deep well of the Word, and drinking some of the Master’s cold, clean, living water, so we shall never thirst again.
