AUTUMNS EVE AT HARDY LAKE

When autumn comes knocking
The trees are rocking
To the sound of red, green, yellow and brown
Slowly, very slowly, they fall to the ground
I stood in the sunshine very still
The colors of love
Were at my will

The evening sun was warm and sweet
The heavens opened and I got a treat
I heard it start from the top,
It did not fall silently
It bounced around all over that tree
It hit the stump, other leaves and me
It hit my head
My nose, my chin
A crinkled leaf in the wind

Oh Lord, such treasures, dancing around
I kicked off my shoes and fell to the ground
My feet touched the earth in a leafy sound
Between my toes, a heavenly crunch
Under my feet, bunch and bunch

The hill was alive with the evening sun
Shadows blowing in the wind
Shadows of love, and spirits of past
Coming out to dine
Dancing in the wind so fine
Grey squirrels searching the ground for nuts
Pleated woodpeckers, wings in air
Autumn and I just became a pair

Long shadows fell across the lake
The sun is losing the race in the west
Water, sun, and shadows make a sandwich
Dancing red light across the moor
Waiting for night time to open her door
Impending fright
Saved just in time by that beautiful big round light
Full and ready, steady on, looks like the man is having a treat
I think they will one day meet

SEE THIS AUTUMN, 2007
Could this be as pretty as Heaven?
Looking up from my seat in the leaves
I watched an eagle come out to play
Soaring so high up in the sky
Floating and dancing in the clouds above
Inviting me to taste God’s love

This special evening in autumns glow
The pleasure of breathing hugged me so.
