Cares of this World

People seem to be in a hurry
Where too, only Heaven knows
Yet if they really knew where they are headed without Jesus
I think their speed would become more slow

Seems we just have to do things
Though temporal each really are
Things that only satisfy our senses
And leave our spirit man afar

Though it is the spirit that gives to us life
Our flesh we seem to often feed
For when the Holy Spirit tries to speak
His words we cannot hear and heed

We need to take time to smell the roses
And just relax and learn to listen to that gentle voice
That will speak to our spirit man
And give to us a better choice

Jesus said that the cares of this world
Will choke out the things of the Lord
So when our plans fail and go amiss
We blame God, yet it is us that have failed His word.
